Lyric West

Lyric West offers a range of out-of-school-hours projects to 11-19 year olds living in West London boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, Ealing, Brent, Hounslow, Hillingdon and Harrow.

The largest project is the Lyric Young Company, open to all 14-19 year olds in West London, which costs £5 to join. Benefits include the chance to be involved with a large-scale production each year, perform on stage, and attend workshops and events.

The Lyric Young Company gives a young West Londoners from different socio-economic backgrounds the chance to interact and learn from each other. It also provides budding young performers, directors, designers and production managers – the future theatre-makers of tomorrow – with the opportunity to further their skills and work with some of the leading theatre practitioners working in the UK.

The Lyric also runs a series of more specific projects that build on the Lyric’s legacy of delivering groundbreaking work for young people facing disadvantage. These projects require teacher or agency worker referrals for students to participate.

Many of the projects give young people the opportunity to work towards achieving a nationally recognised qualification, performing on stage or learning new skills. The programme also aims to provide a ‘ladder of opportunity’, enabling participants to continue to develop their skills by participating in a variety of projects over time – whether this is ‘soft’ skills such as increased confidence and self-esteem or more ‘hard’ outcomes such as qualifications.
