The Lyric strives to be as accessible as possible. It is a unique mixture of 20th century modernist architecture and Victorian design.
Both our theatre spaces - the main house and studio - offer dedicated spaces for wheelchair users. There are lifts to all levels, as well as wheelchair accessible toilets on every floor. We have live captioned performances for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as an infra-red Sennheiser system in our theatres. We also offer audio-described performances for people who are blind or visually impaired.
If you use a wheelchair...
We have space to accommodate three wheelchairs in row R of the Stalls, approximately 10m from the theatre entrance. This is reached by taking the lift to Stalls level and using a dedicated entrance for wheelchair users.
The theatre also has a number of accessible seats at the end of rows on the left hand side of the auditorium for wheelchair users who prefer to transfer to a seat.
The Studio is licensed for two wheelchairs usually positioned at the front of the seating area. Because of the flexible nature of the seating and staging for Studio productions they might not always be in the same place.
If you are blind or are visually impaired...
Guide dogs are welcome in the building and can either accompany their owners into the auditorium (please ask for an aisle seat) or be looked after by a member of the theatre's ushering staff.
Touch tours of the set can be arranged through the House Manager's office on 020 8741 6843 - please request these when booking tickets.
Audio Described Performances are available for certain performances. Call the Ticket Office on 0871 22 117 26 for more information or if you would like to join our audio description mailing list.
If you are deaf or hard of hearing...
We present regular Open-Captioned performances - see the calendar for dates or the Access page on individual show pages. You can join our mailing list by e-mailing tickets@lyric.co.uk.
Both of our theatres have Sennheiser infra-red audio enhancement systems. You can collect a headset from our shop next to the bar in the main foyer on the second floor. If you'd like to use the Sennheiser system please tell the Ticket Office when you book your tickets so they can advise you on the seats that have the best reception.
Tickets
Make sure you book early to guarantee your tickets. We offer discounted tickets for wheelchair users and their companions.
Parking
The nearest parking spaces to the Lyric for people with disabilities are in the King's Mall shopping centre car park on Level 6. These are adjacent to a walkway connecting the car park with the Lyric. Unfortunately these walkways are locked at 8.30pm when the shopping centre closes, but you won't be stranded. You can return to the car park by leaving the theatre through the exit onto Lyric Square and then by turning left along Beadon Road, towards Glenthorne Road - a distance of approximately 150 yards. Access to the car park is on your left (this is the car park's exit road). The pay station and lifts are on the ground floor.
By Tube
All of Hammersmith's Underground lines (District, Piccadilly, Hammersmith and City) have good wheelchair access. The Lyric Hammersmith is about 200 yards from the station.
For more information on any of the above please contact Claire Freeman, House Manager on 020 8741 6843 or claire.freeman@lyric.co.uk
The Lyric Hammersmith values the opinions of its customers. If you have any suggestions or comments about access throughout the theatre please email enquiries@lyric.co.uk
